Photo Board - with a weight of 300g/m² is usually available in size 50*70cm and is used as a backing board and mounting board for photos, as calendar sheets, as a painting surface and for hobby work. Good quality photo board should be produced by sticking layers together and not as one paper mass; if it is put through the paper-machine in one piece, the underside of the paper will be darker than the upperside as pigments tend to seep through in the moist part of the machine. To avoid this from happening, two paper layers of 150g/m² each ar pressed together. This quality mark is very easily tested: simply light the corner of the paper and the two layers will separate automatically.

The best Qualities in the photo board range are the acid-free, brillant white and ivory types with a light matt surface. The colours of photo board are generally not highly light-proof.

Le Carton photo est un papier épais de 300g/m² également la plupart du temps au format 50*70cm et sert pour le collage de photos, la fabrication de passe-partouts, de feuilles de calendriers, pour la peinture et le bricolage.

Les bonnes qualités de carton photo doivent être collées et non teintées dans la masse car vu l'épaisseur lors de la fabrication, la couleur >>coulerait<< vers le bas de la masse, le verso de la feuille devenant ainsi plus foncé que le recto. Pour éviter calà, les bons cartons photos sont faits de deux feuillets de 150g/m² collés ensemble: il est trés simple de s'en apercevoir, il suffit d'allumer un coin du papier avec une allumette, les deux feuillets se séparant automatiquement.

Pour le carton photo, seul le blanc pur et crème sans acide avec surface légérement matte sont résistantes à le lumière.

Cartone foto: é un tipo di cartone pesante 300g/m², il cui formato piú comune é 50*70cm. Viene adoperato come superficie per incollare foto, per fare passe-partout, calendari, per dipingere e per fare modellini.

Per essere di buona qualitá il cartone foto viene fatto in due strati incollati insieme e non da un'unica massa. Facendo questo cartone da 300g in un'unica fase lavorativa, la superficie inferiore é piú scura di quella superiore; i pigmenti infatti tendono a depositarsi durante la fase di lavorazione con acqua. Per evitare ció nella produzione di cartone foto di alta qualitá, si incollano due cartonicini da 150g l'uno all'altro. Per poter riconoscere questa caratteristica, si faccia la sequente prova: basta infiammare un angolo del cartone; con la fiamma i due strati si separano automaticamente.

Di ottima qualitá di cartone foto sono i tipi senza acido, dei colori bianco intenso ed avorio, con superficie leggermente opaca. I colori del cartone foto sono per la maggior parte poco inalterabili alla luce.
